Last night I told Anika that it was time to do one of her chores and she got SO excited! She said "Thank you!!! Thank you for letting me do my chore mommy!!!". If only I could keep her this age forever! I'm sure she won't be saying that in 10 years!!

What kind of chores do you have your kids do?? I feel like I should be giving Anika more to do - especially since she's so willing! But it's just SO much easier to do it myself. These are the chores that I have the girls do:

Anika:
* Put away clean silverware, kitchen utensils, measuring cups and spoons.
* Gather all the garbage cans for Daddy on garbage day.
* Help clean up toys.
* Put away her folded laundry.

Keslie:
* Put away clean lids.
* Help clean up toys.
* Put away her folded laundry.

What do you think? Am I being too easy on them??

Keslie is SO not allowed to use markers anymore!! She was purposefully coloring on her shirt, hands, and face. SO busted!!

Oh boy... Keslie really got herself with that marker! As far as chores go, I haven't been organized enough yet to specify chores that Emma needs to do, but I NEED to! But, I casually have her help me with sorting clothes that need to be put away (like have her put clothes in piles for daddy, mommy, becca and emma) - she's very slow at this but at least it keeps her occupied while I am trying to stay busy. I also have her put away silverware and a few times I've had her help me dust which works pretty well in some places of the house.

I never let Brayton help me. He just picks up his toys when I ask him to and when I am putting clothes into the washer he helos me do that too. I have really never thought of him doing "chores" yet. But thats awesome that your girls do. Its great to teach them young:)

I'm glad to see you are back in the blogging business. Your girls are so cute and so grown up, I can't believe how much they have changed already! I love to give my kids wipes and let them clean and dust. Usually I have to redo everything, but they are getting the idea anyway. Keep the pictures coming! JJ

So far all Riley helps me do is throw the folded socks in the drawer, clean up toys, and put the clothes in the dryer. All of these chores require a lot of supervision on our part. Looks like Keslie was feeling creative with those markers!

Chores?? Oh Britt--Alana just throws everything on the floor and cries when it's time to clean up. Now, she's only 8 months old, so I can't really blame her, but I DO look forward to when she will actually WANT to help me!! :) And btw, I finally broke and have a blog. The blog and I are in a serious love/hate relationship. Miss ya!

I forgot--I totally agree about the video downloading though. Let me know if anyone points you in the right direction, please!

I just dealt with the same marker issue with Brigham . . . with a black permanent marker on his face! Luckily his Dad caught him in time to be able to scrub it off.

You are so much better at getting your kids to do chores than I am.

Merrek's biggest "chore" is that she has to keep her room clean. She also helps me unload the dishwasher and other random jobs, but at this age she loves it. Anything that mom does is cool right now. I guess the point is learning responsibility, even if it isn't one specific consistant chore. Merrek makes a "goal" of something that she really wants (aka Hannah Montana PJ's) and then works toward that goal that month. At some point I am going to just make her do it "because I said so", but I guess it is an excuse to buy her stuff when my husband asks, "Why?" Anyhow, I think that is a fantastic job. You are awesome.

How can you be mad at that darling smile? Oh I want to squeeze her cheeks! I'm all about chores, Tater does the same chores as Anika with ZERO enthusiam! She says she's too little and can't do them all herself which of course I don't buy. If she's big enough to trash her room then I know she's big enough to clean it. Any ideas on how to make her cooperate better? Oh, another chore she does is fold the clean kitchen towels and wash cloths and she does suprisingly well.

I won't claim to know about chores because my kids are just messy. Along those lines, the only thing Atticus does with markers is color himself. He thinks it's makeup and just runs it all over his face. If he has a lot of time he also does his arms, legs, belly...

Good luck with the potty training from the last post. We're in that same position where Atticus is going by himself from time to time and I just need to get on the ball and actually train him. I'm not really looking forward to it.

Here's hoping you will actually see this. Just wanted you to know that I'm glad to add you to my blog, but I need your email address. Could you send it to me? Thanks!
